Far in the future, the World Controllers have created the ideal society. Through the clever mix of genetic engineering, brainwashing and recreational sex and drugs, everyone is a happy consumer. Bernard Marx seems alone in his discontent.

Interesting read, but written poorly.

I really don't know what dystopia is, anymore. Are we conditioned now to feel and belong and to copulate and to own? Or, are the people conditioned in the book BNW to not feel and to not own and to just be? I think, there's no such thing as absolute freedom. I don't have much praise for Huxley as a writer (boy, is he obsessed with Shakespeare!). Also, the copy of Brave New World at CallLibrary was infested with insects and very old (yellow pages). So, I read it online. My parting thought is - Consumerism is going to be the end of all individual thoughts, whether it's our world, or the brave new world. The end is... sad. :'(
