Malloy is the head of a private investigating firm. The firm is hired to watch the wilfe of a very wealthy man's wife who seems to a developed a habit of acquiring things that do no belong to her. But suddenly the person who was assigned to the case is dead and the woman has disappeared - her husband denies ever hiring someone to watch his wife. Malloy is determined to find out what is really going on.
