Description:

Guru Arjan (1563 - 1606) was the fifth guru and the first Sikh saint to become a martyr. He had a practical approach to the problems of life and was an inspiring teacher. His lasting contribution to Sikhism and the world is his compilation of the Guru Granth Sahib. His life was tragically cut short as a result of intrigue and jealousy and rivalry on the part of his own brother. His refusal to submit to a proud emperor is an example not only to his followers but also to all those with firm faith in the beliefs they hold to be true.
