The book is such a caricature of early Ludlum novels that we find ourselves smirking at the heroic CIA case officer, Cameron Pryce, 'a veteran of the new Cold-Peace,' who's about as one-dimensional as they come. Still, that's what Ludlum does for a living, so he can take a little criticism.
